It's a vintage green

It is cast iron, and must weigh almost as much as my 4 year old son.:)
After learning of my friend's sewing machine collection, I was thrilled when she offered me this vintage green machine.
Not wasting much time, my niece and I hauled the Singer along with a handful of my products out doors for a whimsy, vintage inspired shoot.  We didn't have much time to plan, but thanks to her creative mind we had it together in less than an hour I believe.
A quick table out of crates and window shutter will do.

diamond quilt

Something new for a change! I've been wanting to make a baby
quilt/photo prop for a while but was simply waiting for some inspiration
to get me started! I fell in love with the diamond shape and wanted to
try them on a little quilt.

I made the mint green quilt, and then felt the need to make another one
to perfect the pattern. The idea is so simple, but it does take some time
to work with those ruffles. ;)

I enjoyed using the Fall morning sun for some of these shots.

Sew a skirt

There's something about Fall and the urge to create!
My latest is a really fun, easy skirt. I came across
a skirt tutorial on pinterest. You can find the amazing
girl behind this tutorial at Creative Spaces!
The instructions are so well laid out.
Here is my version and I like how it turned out.

We have been having an amazing Fall where I live, and I hope you are all having the same!

newborn photography prop

Hey I just wanted to share this super cute idea for newborn photo shoots!
My brother and his wife just had a sweet baby girl, and I was reminded of the way our mom used the traditional diapers along with the pins with all her 12 children! Anyway, all of a sudden I had the need to create!

Vintage and fraying edges...:)I'm so predictable!

I'm not a newborn photographer and she didn't like the idea of being out of her blanket. It was worth a try!

much love,
Rosella

ruffle scarf

I thought I would share this simple scarf idea.
A friend of mine asked a while ago if I could
make her a ruffle scarf, and this is what I came up with!
After ripping 3 long strips of fabric(3 different widths),
I ruffled them up individually with a zig-zag stitch.
Start with the widest layer at the bottom, then place the
next 2 ruffle strips on top of that and stitch them all
together and you're done! It's a very light weight scarf
making it perfect for spring and summer.:)

It is not worth losing sleep over fun projects. sighh. The thrill of designing and making is what keeps me awake at night. :( I will need to cut back so I don't age too quickly. ;-) And focus on projects that need to be done.. good plan! But that means less browsing of inspirational blogs/sites like Ruche... The top below was inspired by something I saw on Ruche. After it was done, I decided to add braids instead of the lace. love gray and beige. Seriously though I need to cut back.

My latest thing is rag roses that's for sure.. I have had a lot of time for creating lately. =) Braydon and Luke's grandpa from Belize has been staying with us for awhile now and my boys are just hanging around him all the time, so what would I possibly do with my precious "free" time?? ;) I first saw these gorgeous camera strap slipcovers here and thought hmmm.. Mine definitely isn't perfect but hey I like it and really it's so comfy compared to the bare strap around my neck!

Taking a break

Always making myself busy with my hobbies but I think it's time for a break..=)Here's a look at some of my latest projects. Ever since I moved the sewing machine into the basement, I am right where my boys are playing. I find that there's times when I need the company of my boys.. hehe
We're planning on going to Iowa this long weekend to visit Daniel and Annie(my sister) before they move to Belize! I'm so excited about a road trip. I might get to do some shopping on our way there.. yay.:)

pillow

A few minutes is enough to whip up a pillow cover with recycled frills...tea-stained...still love my tea! Trying to use up more fabrics so I don't feel guilty getting new fabric..I've been enjoying vintage or recycled fabrics a lot because it's not expensive and they usually look warm and cozy.. maybe it's time to try something new again.....=)

Vintage inspiration

I have this ever growing love for fabric, ruffles, frills, anything handmade. ;). No I am not a perfectionist but it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful in my eyes. When I see something I like, I give it a shot and will make my pattern as I go along if I need to, which was the case again this time.. Inspiration for this vintage bolero came from this shop on Etsy : http://www.etsy.com/shop/bonzie?section_id=5775790 ...love, love her shop. Since I think fabric lately, I couldn't help but wonder what it would look like on a necklace, so yes I had to try it! :) I love it actually.

Winter might not be so bad after all with my growing list of "have to try it" projects..haha. My goal is to sew more of my own skirts, and dresses and winter is the perfect time to work on summer dresses.. :)
